 Dennis Nakanishi, MA

 Masters in Clinical Psychology

Dennis A. Nakanishi, MA, He has over 40 years of clinical treatment, research and teaching experience in the area of psychiatry/psychology and psychopharmacology. He has taught at Rush University, University of Illinois, University of St. Francis and other medical centers / university settings and nursing colleges.  He has publicly spoken on various mental health topics. He is a published author of scientific journal articles, book chapters and videos. He also specializes in the Treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorders, both individually and group therapy and is the Director of the Clinical Research at the Joliet Center for Clinical Research.  Teaching future mental health professionals is very important to him as he clinically supervises and precepts undergraduate and graduate students in Psychology, Nursing and Medical students.

Dennis began his training at Rush Presbyterian Saint Luke’s Hospital in Chicago in 1978 where he worked with children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients. He joined the Midwest Center for Neurobehavioral Medicine in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois to serve as a research coordinator and to administer psychological and psychiatric tests. Dennis has extensive research and clinical experience and is certified to administer a wide variety of scales measuring intelligence, mood, anxiety, and psychosis.

Additionally Dennis is a certified hypnotherapists and treats a variety of different issues including anxiety, depression, weight loss, insomnia, sports performance, self-esteem, pain management, and smoking cessation.

Dennis Waclawik currently is the Study Coordinator at the Joliet Center for Clinical Research. He has experience working in the areas of  individual / family and group therapies. He is certified in hypnosis for a variety of hypnotherapy issues.Dennis received his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (2013) at the University of Illinois in Chicago. Currently, Dennis has his Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health and Counseling at Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois.He is a LPC ( Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor )
